Notes:
Alternate titles:
The title “Indian Summer,” first appears in the 1920 Knoedler Gallery leaflet as number 10. This title is repeated in several subsequent exhibition listings. The title “Summer (Alaska)” appears on Juley photograph #17, of 1920.
“Summer,” Alaska appears in Kent’s book, “Rockwellkentiana” (1933).
Like many titles that appear in publications as captions, the artist often included a geographic location as a descriptive. For example, this painting is captioned “Summer” Alaska, in “Rockwellkentiana.” Kent’s use of quotation marks separates the title from the location.
