“Alaskan Snow Peaks” is the title that is recorded in the Wildenstein Galleries’ 1927 “Paintings by Rockwell Kent” exhibition catalogue, as #44 .
The Art News review of the Wildenstein exhibition describes the painting thusly: “One of these [in reference to the Alaska paintings] is No. 44 of the catalog, ‘Alaska Snow Peaks’ where the color and forms do not share the general aridity and summariness. There are living blues in the turquoise of the pool and the mazarine of the sky while a single pine tree to the left is a happy note in the design.”
