Title and size confirmed in two estate inventory lists (as #55) created by Richard Larcada, circa 1971-1973; with the same repeated on a Larcada label, on the back of a photograph of the painting.
It does not appear that this painting was created during Kent’s Alaska stay–the standard characteristics of a 1918-1919 Alaska painting are not evident. And the theme, that of father and son, may have been inspired by Duncan Phillips, who had commissioned Kent to paint such a composition in 1925 (see AK1-13).
Larcada and Hammer date the painting 1918–on verso labels.
According to Sally and John Gorton’s inventory list this painting was sold by Alvis [unknown person].
