“Winter, View from Fox Island, Alaska” is the title Kent listed in his 1960 Soviet gift inventory.
Numerous alternate titles exist, including “View from Fox Island Winter,” and several others (see “Rockwell Kent’s Forgotten Landscapes,” p. 92). The painting appears to have been touched up, probably before it went on tour of the Soviet Union in 1957.
