The image, specifically of the embracing father and son, derives from an ink drawing–”Old Age and Youth,” 1918–that was exhibited at Knoedler Gallery’s “The Alaska Drawings of Rockwell Kent” (1919), and later reproduced as the dedicated page illustration for Kent’s book “Wilderness” (G. P. Putnam’s Sons. 1920).
